Vibe City welcomes Bristol-born, Brooklyn-based producer Rockafella for its latest release, bringing two soulful, summer-ready Drum & Bass cuts to the label with “Indica Dub” and “Paradise.”

A lifelong follower of UK bass culture, Rockafella traces his roots back to his early days as a Junglist. His productions have since travelled through different corners of the underground, including UK Garage, while his recent work has focused on the melodic and soulful side of Drum & Bass.

Opening the release, “Indica Dub” brings warm sub-bass, bright vocals and uplifting energy together with a huge jungle-driven percussion loop. Sharp, technical edits keep the track moving, creating a feel-good liquid roller packed with movement.

“Paradise” takes things deeper, pairing a distorted bassline and shadowy synths with echoing vocals and crisp snares. Atmospheric and weighty at the same time, it provides the perfect contrast to the brighter energy of “Indica Dub.”

Inspired by artists including Nu, Lenzman, DJ Marky and Pola & Bryson, Rockafella combines warm musical elements with the energy and detail of his Jungle background. His experience playing across New York City, from Drum & Bass and UKG to 140 and Bruk, also feeds into the wide-ranging character of the release.

“Indica Dub” & “Paradise” are available exclusively on Beatport and Spotify from October 16, before receiving a worldwide release on October 30.
